Brava — I always feel a twinge of disappointment when a friend automatically takes their husband’s last names without giving it much thought. And there’s little that makes me cringe as much as being at a wedding and the couple being introduced as “Mr. and Mrs. Husband’s First Name Husband’s Last Name.”

The real question is with kids. That’s the like ‘will a woman keep her name’ from the 90s (as a child I only had one friend where the mom kept her maiden name). My daughter has my last name, not my husband’s. I’m proud that we’ve gone against the norm. If we have a second, they will have my husband’s last name. I was raised in a family with multiple last names and it wasn’t a big deal…and this won’t be either.
